Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Lucknow, Jan 13 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday presented a comprehensive overview of the state's evolution from a “bottleneck to breakthrough” province, detailing how significant projects and targeted governance have propelled it onto a rapid growth trajectory.
During a special press conference, the Chief Minister praised the Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (PRAGATI) platform, showcasing it as a remarkable model of the new work ethic in a 'New India'.
He explained that PRAGATI exemplifies the administrative approach initially established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his time as Gujarat's Chief Minister and subsequently fortified at the national level post-2014.
Referring to PRAGATI as a transformative initiative, he noted that it fosters the Team India spirit among various states by providing substantial backing to large-scale infrastructure ventures.
“Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the nation's infrastructure growth catalyst through the PRAGATI model. Administrative obstacles have been removed, permissions and approvals expedited, and effective coordination has produced tangible outcomes,” the Chief Minister stated.
CM Yogi further revealed that PRAGATI has accelerated projects worth over Rs 86 lakh crore on a national scale, with 377 major projects directly overseen by the Prime Minister.
“PRAGATI has indeed been a transformative force for Uttar Pradesh,” he added, underscoring the multitude of projects underway in the state, including the construction of expressways, railway systems, metro services, air connectivity, the nation’s first rapid rail, ropeway projects, and more.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Uttar Pradesh boasts the largest infrastructure portfolio in the country, featuring 330 projects valued at Rs 10.48 lakh crore. This includes crucial initiatives in transportation, energy, urban development, health, and industrial advancement. Of these, 128 projects (39%), costing Rs 2.37 lakh crore, have been completed and commissioned, while 202 projects worth Rs 8.11 lakh crore are proceeding on schedule.
The Chief Minister also praised the PRAGATI portal for its tech-driven approach, attributing its effectiveness to various departments like Revenue, Pollution Control Board, Forest, Urban Development, and Panchayati Raj, all collaborating to provide timely solutions.
“This has facilitated swift progress in sectors such as highways, railways, energy, and telecommunications. It has become a model of effective governance,” CM Yogi remarked.
He further added that PRAGATI has reinforced the Team India ethos, shifting the focus towards solutions rather than merely identifying problems through the collaboration of central and state governments.
“Prior to 2014, projects received approval but often failed to meet deadlines; today, with every project’s foundation stone being laid, a completion schedule is established, and regular evaluations are conducted,” CM Yogi concluded, commending PM Modi for his focused and results-oriented leadership.
