Dehra Dun, Aug 5 (NationPress) In light of the catastrophic cloudburst that hit Dharali village in the Uttarkashi district on Tuesday, the Uttarakhand government has initiated an emergency health response, overseen directly by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The Chief Minister is actively supervising relief efforts and maintaining regular communication with senior officials to provide swift aid to those affected. Following his directives, Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar has assembled a team of specialist doctors, including surgeons, anaesthetists, physicians, and orthopaedic surgeons, for deployment to the impacted region.
Leading the team is the Director of the Garhwal Division Health Services, appointed as the nodal officer for medical relief operations. To brace for potential mass casualties, all major hospitals across the state are mandated to reserve beds for the injured.
Moreover, all medical personnel have been instructed not to take leave until further notice to ensure full operational readiness. Hospitals are also directed to maintain an uninterrupted supply of medicines, surgical materials, and medical equipment.
The state-run 108 ambulance service has been put on heightened alert in Dharali and nearby areas. Additional ambulances from surrounding districts have been dispatched to bolster emergency responses and facilitate the rapid evacuation and primary treatment of victims. A 24x7 emergency control center has been established in Uttarkashi to coordinate medical and rescue initiatives.
This control center will act as the focal point for communication and resolution of issues as relief operations proceed.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar cautioned that negligence in duty performance would result in stringent administrative repercussions. "This is a humanitarian crisis that necessitates the utmost sensitivity and commitment from every health official and worker," he asserted.
The Army, the ITBP, and the NDRF teams have rapidly deployed 211 personnel alongside essential machinery for rescue operations.
Authorities have also issued evacuation warnings for low-lying regions. District officials and SDRF teams are continuously monitoring the situation as efforts to restore normalcy remain ongoing.
Additionally, the Uttarakhand government has assigned IAS officers Abhishek Ruhela, Meghraj Singh Bisht, and Gaurav Kumar to oversee relief operations.
The PAC’s 40th Battalion and SDRF teams have been dispatched from Haridwar and Dehradun for rescue tasks.
Ten senior police officers from Haridwar, Dehradun, Pauri, and Tehri, along with 160 personnel, have been assigned for ground support.
Teams have been instructed to carry essentials, tents, and medical supplies. Rapid action is currently underway under the guidance of senior civil and police authorities.
