Mysuru, Nov 7 (NationPress) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy stated on Thursday that during the significant celebration of 150 years since the creation of the patriotic anthem Vande Mataram, penned by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, it is essential for every Indian to embrace a steadfast spirit of patriotism.
In a momentous event commemorating this milestone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from Delhi. Union Minister Kumaraswamy joined the festivities at the BEML facility in Mysuru, which was linked to the Prime Minister's live telecast.
Expressing his joy, the Union Minister remarked, "Participating in the Prime Minister's live programme was a delight," noting that even after one and a half centuries, Vande Mataram remains eternal in the hearts of all Indians. He honored the song and highlighted its crucial role during the freedom struggle.
Kumaraswamy emphasized that Vande Mataram played a pivotal role in unifying a divided India during colonial times and continues to resonate with the people even after 150 years.
"Listening to Vande Mataram still gives one chills," he noted.
Prime Minister Modi has initiated a year-long series of celebrations to recognize Vande Mataram. Kumaraswamy urged the youth to adopt the values represented in this monumental song and foster the spirit of patriotism.
During the event, H.D. Kumaraswamy also planted a sapling at the BEML campus, attended by MLA G.T. Harish Gowda and senior officials.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remarked that Vande Mataram is more than just a song; it embodies the essence of India’s freedom movement. “Even after 150 years, its message of unity and pride continues to steer India’s path towards greater strength and progress,” he stated.
Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka added: "Vande Mataram is not just a national anthem or the lifeblood of the freedom movement; it represents a declaration of cultural nationalism."
