Raipur, Nov 5 (NationPress) Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan embarked on his first visit to Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, engaging in a variety of events across multiple locations, including Nava Raipur and Rajnandgaon districts.
His participation in 'Rajat Mahotsav' marked a three-day cultural celebration commemorating the 25th anniversary of the state's establishment on November 1, 2000.
During the visit, he witnessed an exhilarating Air Show performed by the Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) at Sendh Lake in Nava Raipur. Known for its precision flying, the team has captivated audiences since its inception in 1996.
Following the air show, Vice President Radhakrishnan inaugurated the Udayachal Multi-Speciality Eye Care Institute in Rajnandgaon and recognized the donors for their generous contributions towards establishing this health facility.
On this occasion, he also facilitated the transfer of over Rs 647 crore to beneficiaries under the 'Mahatari Vandan' scheme initiated by the Chhattisgarh government.
Additionally, the Vice President attended the 'Lakhpati Didi Sammelan' in Rajnandgaon, honoring women who achieved economic empowerment through the 'Lakhpati Didi' initiative.
Several honored 'Lakhpati Didis' shared their heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chhattisgarh government for enabling their socio-economic upliftment.
Sangeeta Nirmal, affiliated with 'Ekta Gram Sangathan', expressed her joy, stating that the 'Lakhpati Didi' scheme transformed her life, allowing her to earn approximately Rs 6 lakh annually through various businesses.
She recounted, "With a government loan, I launched a general store and later opened a fishery shop. I am thankful to PM Modi for this initiative and hope the government continues to support women like us," she told IANS.
Rukmini Shahu, another beneficiary who ventured into small businesses after obtaining a loan from the government, shared that receiving recognition from the Vice President has inspired her to strive harder.
"The best aspect of this scheme is the affordable loan interest rates, enabling women to start their businesses. Today, I earn between Rs 7 to 8 lakh a year through various avenues. I also benefit from several other schemes provided by both the Centre and State governments," she added.
