New Delhi, Oct 9 (NationPress) The Vice President, C.P. Radhakrishnan, is set to travel to Bihar on October 11 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan at his ancestral village of Sitab Diara in Saran district, as confirmed by an official statement on Thursday.
During his visit, Radhakrishnan will pay respects at the ancestral home of Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan in Sitab Diara and will also lay floral tributes at the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan National Memorial.
Additionally, he plans to stop by the Prabhavati Pustakalaya, named in honor of Prabhavati Devi, the spouse of Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan, in Sitab Diara, according to an official announcement.
Earlier on the same day, the Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, met with the Vice President at the Vice-President’s Enclave.
Radhakrishnan also engaged with numerous dignitaries throughout the day. S. Selvaganabathy, a Member of Parliament from Rajya Sabha, visited the Vice President at Parliament House.
Moreover, Parshottam Rupala, a Member of Parliament from Lok Sabha, met the Vice President at Parliament House. Other visiting members included Dr. Sasmit Patra, Dr. Kavita Patidar, and Sanjay Seth, all from Rajya Sabha.
Radhakrishnan had previously visited Bihar on September 28. During the valedictory session of the third edition of the Unmesha – International Literature Festival in Patna, he emphasized that understanding each other’s literature can facilitate the vision of “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat” and referred to one Dharma as the cohesive force of the nation.
He reminisced about a conversation with a European dignitary, who questioned how India maintains unity amid its linguistic and cultural diversity. Radhakrishnan responded by stating, “Despite our varied languages, our Dharma remains unified.”
He characterized Bihar as an intellectual hub of ancient times, showcasing the state’s historic centers of learning such as Nalanda and Vikramshila Universities.
Underlining Bihar's influence in social reform, the Vice President reflected on the Champaran Satyagraha, initiated by Mahatma Gandhi, and the Total Revolution Movement spearheaded by Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan, which he joined at the young age of nineteen, later serving as the District General Secretary of the movement.
