Chennai, Sep 27 (NationPress) Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and Tamil cinema icon Vijay is set to advance his Assembly election campaign in Namakkal today, as part of his ongoing public engagement activities scheduled every Saturday.

Following his address to supporters in Namakkal this morning, he will proceed to speak at Veluchamipuram near Karur at 12 p.m. – notably, the same site where AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami recently held a significant rally.

Vijay departed from his residence in Chennai early today to fly to Namakkal, where a large number of party supporters have been organized to greet him.

This visit forms part of TVK's comprehensive grassroots plan ahead of the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Since the official launch of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in early 2024, Vijay has progressively developed the organization into a well-structured political entity, appealing to both young voters and his extensive fan base.

TVK's initial foray into politics was marked by a major public conference in Vikravandi, Villupuram district, in October 2024. That gathering, which attracted a crowd far surpassing local expectations, positioned the party as a contender capable of challenging long-established Dravidian parties.

The momentum continued with TVK's second state-level conference in Madurai in August 2025, where Vijay presented his "people-first" agenda emphasizing transparency in governance, high-quality education, and job creation for the youth.

Both events marked a significant shift, evolving the party from a fan-centric initiative to a structured political platform with district committees and organized outreach activities.

Since then, Vijay has engaged in extensive tours across districts to fortify support. His approach of visiting two districts each weekend, now supplemented with occasional Sunday events, reflects his commitment to connect with rural and semi-urban constituents.

Party insiders indicate that the gatherings in Namakkal and Karur today hold critical importance, given the region’s diverse political affiliations and its impact on the electoral results in western Tamil Nadu.

Local authorities have implemented stringent security measures in Namakkal and Veluchamipuram anticipating large crowds.

Political analysts observe that Vijay's choice to campaign at the same venue utilized by AIADMK’s Edappadi Palaniswami sends a strong message that TVK intends to contest traditional Dravidian bastions.

As the 2026 elections approach, TVK aims to establish itself as a viable alternative, capitalizing on Vijay's widespread appeal and an expanding organizational framework.
