Will Vijay Meet the Families of Karur Stampede Victims Today?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Oct 27 (NationPress) TVK president and actor Vijay is set to hold a significant meeting on Monday with families who tragically lost their loved ones in the Karur stampede incident. This gathering, arranged at a private resort in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, marks a month since the devastating event that claimed the lives of 41 individuals during a TVK rally in Karur. This will be Vijay's first personal interaction with the grieving families.
On Sunday, TVK members ensured that the families were transported from Karur and nearby districts to Mahabalipuram. Approximately 38 families arrived via eight private buses organized by the party, while two families are anticipated to arrive by air on Monday morning. Notably, one family from Tiruppur has opted to remain at home.
To accommodate them, around 50 rooms have been reserved at the seaside resort along East Coast Road.
As per TVK sources, the families were initially collected from their residences and taken to a central meeting point in Karur before being driven to Mahabalipuram. The logistics were managed by three district secretaries from Karur, Coimbatore, and Erode.
Originally, Vijay intended to visit Karur to meet the families at their homes, but this plan was altered due to security challenges and logistical issues. Consequently, the decision was made to bring families to a central location for a more private, respectful meeting.
The meeting will commence with a candlelight tribute for the 41 victims at the resort’s convention hall. Following this, Vijay will personally meet each family to express his condolences and offer support. The event is anticipated to wrap up by 3 p.m., followed by lunch, after which the families will begin their journey home.
Party officials characterized the event as “a solemn, humane occasion,” aimed at showing solidarity rather than seeking publicity.
“Vijay wishes to stand with the families during their time of sorrow and reassure them that their grief has not gone unnoticed,” stated a senior TVK leader, emphasizing that the meeting aims to bring comfort and closure to those affected.
