Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 1 (NationPress) In a remarkable turn of events in the realm of Communist families in India, Keralan Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's official residence, Cliff House, has become the center of attention as all family members, except for his wife, Kamala Vijayan, have received notices or summons from Central investigative agencies.

Both of the Chief Minister's children, daughter Veena and son Vivek, have been subjected to questioning and summons from various agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).

While the CPI-M often dismisses these actions as a part of politically charged witch-hunts, the legal scrutiny surrounding the Chief Minister's family is intensifying.

This situation traces back to the SNC-Lavalin case, which is still unresolved before the Supreme Court, and has expanded to include several investigations, such as the gold smuggling case, the Life Mission probe, and the recent ED notice directed at the Chief Minister concerning the Masala Bond issue.

T. Veena, the Chief Minister's daughter, is currently embroiled in legal matters linked to her company, Exalogic, which reportedly accepted payments without delivering services. She has already faced questioning from Central agencies.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister's son, Vivek Vijayan, was summoned by the ED due to suspected financial connections identified during the Lavalin investigation, including overseas payments related to his education.

In response to the ED's notice to CM Vijayan, Sunny Joseph, Kerala Congress President and senior legislator, suggested that this is merely a diversion tactic—“a masala to divert public focus from Sabarimala-related issues concerning the LDF government.”

He further claimed that this reflects a calculated effort between the Central and state governments to assist the Chief Minister in the run-up to elections.

“This kind of political maneuvering is nothing new, and it will yield no results,” remarked Sunny Joseph, poking fun at the situation by stating, “This notice will likely end up like a mountain giving birth to a mouse.”

Despite the arrest of former Principal Secretary M. Sivasankar in the gold smuggling case, investigations have not escalated further up the administrative hierarchy or reached Cliff House.

Now, with the Masala Bond case bringing the Chief Minister himself under ED investigation, the implications are profoundly politically significant.

With only Kamala Vijayan, the Chief Minister's wife, remaining unscathed by these notices, Cliff House currently stands at a pivotal intersection of legal scrutiny and political symbolism.
