Pune/Amritsar, April 25 (NationPress) In light of increased security apprehensions following the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Indian authorities are implementing measures to track and oversee Pakistani nationals currently in India.

Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi reported that there are 111 Pakistani citizens residing in Pune city.

Among them, 91 individuals hold Long Term Visas (LTV), valid for up to five years, while 20 others are in the country with visitor visas, typically allowing a stay of 90 days. The Pune Police's foreigners' branch has confirmed that three Pakistani nationals have departed India recently.

Following the despicable terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian government has urged Pakistani nationals currently in India to return to Pakistan. Many of these individuals travel to India to visit family or obtain medical care.

Official statistics indicate that Pune is home to 35 men and 56 women from Pakistan on Long Term Visas, alongside 20 Pakistani nationals in the city on Visitor Visas.

At the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar, Protocol Officer Arun Mahal confirmed that the flow of individuals between the two countries continues.

“Just like yesterday, today (on Friday) 191 Pakistani nationals who had entered India on visas returned to Pakistan. Additionally, 287 Indian citizens who had traveled to Pakistan have returned home,” he stated.

He noted a decrease in tourist numbers amid escalating tensions.

The police administration has also verified the presence of Pakistani nationals in Jalgaon, officials confirmed.

Ashok Nakhate, Additional Superintendent of Police, mentioned that no individuals from Pakistan have entered Jalgaon on a SAARC visa.

However, 327 Pakistani nationals have entered the city on tourist visas.

The police further reported that 12 of these individuals have requested an extension of their stay.

Meanwhile, the police department emphasized that any actions regarding Pakistani nationals in Jalgaon will follow directives from the government.

These developments occur as India adopts a firm diplomatic approach, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, in response to rising tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident.
