Vokkaliga Seer Responds to Police Summons: 'Let Them Imprison Me, It's in God's Hands'

Bengaluru, Nov 30 (NationPress) In light of the Karnataka police's notice summoning him for interrogation concerning his remarks on the disenfranchisement of Muslims, Vokkaliga seer Chandrashekaranatha Swami expressed on Saturday his readiness for imprisonment, stating he has surrendered the issue to God.

The seer conveyed to the press on Saturday, "I am prepared to be jailed if that is what they desire. I participated in the pro-farmer protest and spoke out against the supposed appropriation of their lands by the Waqf Board. I cannot go to the police station for questioning; however, if they come to my mutt, I will clarify my statement."

"The remarks regarding Muslims were an unintentional slip of the tongue. I expressed my regret the very next day. Let's put this matter to rest," he added.

"Our Mutt also has Muslim followers, and I attend marriage ceremonies within the Muslim community. I am perplexed as to why a complaint was filed against me," the seer remarked.

"I am unaware of the police notice summoning me for questioning. My health is not at its best. Numerous leaders have visited me to show their support. I am not concerned about the repercussions," he emphasized.

"I have never called for the banning of the Waqf Board. My demand is simply that farmers' lands should not be seized. Why is the government acting in such a manner? The appeasement of a single community by the government is detrimental," he commented.

"Many statements have been made in the past. My statement will not alter anything, and there exists a Constitution. My primary aim is to ensure farmers are not exploited. I will face any legal consequences that arise," the seer stated.

Swami leads the Vishwa Vokkaligara Mahasamsthana Mutt, and his remarks were made during a protest on Tuesday in Bengaluru, organized by the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, a farmers' organization associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), to protest against the alleged actions of the Waqf Board in taking farmers' lands.

Swami remarked, "Politicians engage in vote bank politics and the appeasement of Muslims. Therefore, Muslims should be stripped of their voting rights. This action should be taken, as the cessation of vote bank politics would aid the nation's progress."

The Upparpet police have filed an FIR against the seer following a complaint regarding his statements.

The police have registered an FIR under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the seer.

The complaint alleges that the seer's statement was inflammatory and poses a threat to communal harmony.

The filing of the FIR against him has escalated into a significant political issue, with a Karnataka BJP delegation visiting him on Friday and warning of "serious repercussions" if he were to be prosecuted by the police.

The BJP delegation, which visited the prominent Vokkaliga seer, was led by R. Ashoka, the Leader of Opposition, and former Deputy CM and BJP MLA C.N. Ashwath Narayan.
