Jaipur, Nov 11 (NationPress) Voting commenced at 7 a.m. for the Anta Assembly by-election in Rajasthan, accompanied by stringent security measures. A total of 2,27,563 voters are eligible to cast their ballots at 268 polling stations across the constituency.
Among those registered, 1,15,982 are men and 1,10,241 are women.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the elections, police personnel have been stationed at all polling parties. The Central Police Force has taken charge of areas deemed highly sensitive. Polling stations are equipped with facilities such as wheelchairs and assistive devices for individuals with disabilities, along with cradles for infants. Moreover, five green polling stations have been set up to promote environmental consciousness.
Comprehensive security protocols have been put in place for the Anta by-election, with a total of 3,077 police officers, 12 Quick Response Teams (QRTs), 43 mobile parties, 43 sector magistrates, 12 supervisory officers, 12 area magistrates, four senior police observers, four senior administrative officers, six additional superintendents of police, and 14 DSPs deployed to maintain law and order. Early arrivals at polling stations began as voting kicked off at 7 a.m.
Long queues formed at several booths, showcasing the enthusiastic participation of first-time and young voters. Youth groups were heard chanting slogans in support of their preferred candidates.
The voting process has been peaceful at all polling stations thus far.
BJP candidate Morpal Suman Tisaya cast his vote at the Government Higher Secondary School polling station in Anta.
It is significant to note that since the 2023 Assembly elections, Rajasthan has experienced nine by-elections — a trend heavily favoring the BJP. Of these, the Congress has lost eight seats, winning only one, while the BJP has achieved seven victories.
As the contest for Anta escalates, the outcome will not only determine the election of one MLA but could also reshape political dynamics across Rajasthan, with both Congress and BJP viewing these elections as a prestige battle.
