Bhopal, Sep 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, expressed his joy over C.P. Radhakrishnan being elected as the 15th Vice President of India on Tuesday.
"Warmest congratulations and best wishes to C.P. Radhakrishnan ji for his election as the 15th Vice President of our nation," Chief Minister Yadav shared on X to convey his regards.
In a video statement released to the media, the Chief Minister highlighted that C.P. Radhakrishnan's journey has been focused on public service.
"The fact that he garnered support from numerous opposition MPs reflects the essence of the BJP and reaffirms Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of - Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas," he stated.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also remarked that the method in which the vice-presidential election was executed demonstrates the strength and elegance of Indian democracy.
"In a time when many nations are experiencing political upheavals, the backing from opposition MPs illustrates India’s democratic integrity and attractiveness. This support is also a reflection of trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Yadav added.
Radhakrishnan secured victory in the vice-presidential election on Tuesday by receiving 452 votes, while the opposition candidate, B. Sudershan Reddy, received 300 votes, as per the election returning officer P.C. Mody.
A total of 767 MPs participated in the voting, achieving a turnout of 98.2%, with 752 votes considered valid and 15 votes marked invalid. Additionally, one postal ballot was annulled as the MP opted not to vote.
It is noteworthy that former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his position on July 22, citing health reasons and the necessity to focus on his well-being.
