Hyderabad, Sep 7 (NationPress) - The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, expressed his gratitude on social media for the support extended by AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi, towards the INDIA block’s Vice-Presidential candidate, Justice B. Sudershan Reddy.
On the platform ‘X’, the Chief Minister posted, “Thank you, Asaduddin Owaisi Bhai, for your support of Justice Sudarshan Reddy garu in this initiative of common national interest.”
Previously, Owaisi had announced his backing for Sudershan Reddy at the request of Reddy.
Owaisi noted that the Chief Minister had reached out to him to seek AIMIM's support for Justice Sudershan Reddy as Vice-President. “AIMIM will stand behind Justice Reddy, a respected jurist and fellow Hyderabadi. I also conveyed our best wishes to him,” Owaisi stated.
Notably, Owaisi is the only MP representing AIMIM, which is currently not affiliated with the INDIA coalition.
Revanth Reddy had urged all political factions in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to back Sudershan Reddy in the upcoming Vice-Presidential election slated for September 9.
He appealed for support by invoking the sentiment of Telugu self-respect for the former Supreme Court judge.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has yet to declare support for any candidate. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao mentioned recently that the party would support whoever promises to supply urea to Telangana amid a shortage.
BRS holds four seats in the Rajya Sabha but lacks representation in the Lok Sabha.
The ruling party in Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), alongside its coalition partner Jana Sena, is part of the NDA and has endorsed NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan.
Likewise, the opposition party in Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress, which is not aligned with either the INDIA coalition or the NDA, has also pledged its support for the NDA candidate.
YSR Congress has 11 MPs, comprising four in the Lok Sabha and seven in the Rajya Sabha.
Notably, Rajampet Lok Sabha member P.V. Midhun Reddy was released from Rajahmundry Central Prison on Saturday after an interim bail was granted by the ACB Court in Vijayawada, enabling him to vote.
Midhun Reddy was arrested on July 19 in connection with a multi-crore liquor scandal alleged to have occurred during the tenure of the YSR Congress government in Andhra Pradesh.
