Patna, April 5 (NationPress) In the midst of the political upheaval surrounding the recently enacted Waqf (Amendment) Bill, BJP National Spokesperson and former Union Minister, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain has emerged as a staunch defender, labeling it as a pro-Muslim and pro-poor initiative.

Speaking to IANS in Samastipur, Hussain emphasized that the Bill, which has been approved by both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, is designed to empower disadvantaged Muslims, particularly those who have historically been overlooked.

“The Waqf Amendment Bill is intended for the benefit of Muslims. It will support the impoverished among them and provide them with an opportunity for renewal and growth,” Hussain asserted.

He also disclosed that since advocating for the Bill, he has faced threats and abusive messages online.

“I am consistently threatened and harassed on social media. We are identifying these individuals. Nevertheless, I remain steadfast in my beliefs,” he told IANS.

Regarding the political implications of the Bill, Hussain dismissed worries about Muslim leaders resigning from the JD(U), referring to them as insignificant figures.

“No major figure is departing JD(U). This will not impact the party or the NDA. In fact, this Bill will assist us in securing more votes,” he stated with confidence.

Hussain addressed the concerns and misconceptions regarding the Bill, reiterating that the Waqf committees will continue to be led by Muslims and that there is no involvement of religious or community bias.

“The Opposition is misleading the public, similar to their actions during the Citizenship Amendment Act. Muslims have no reason to be apprehensive,” he clarified.

He urged the Muslim community to remain calm and informed: “Avoid falling for propaganda. There is no need to take to the streets of Patna. PM Narendra Modi operates under the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” Hussain remarked.

Meanwhile, in light of the growing discontent among some members of the Muslim community regarding the Waqf Bill, Union Minister Chirag Paswan offered a heartfelt and introspective statement, reflecting on the legacy of his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan.

In a poignant message, Chirag Paswan recognized the grievances expressed by minority community members but stated he values this as part of a democratic process.

“I want to express my gratitude to every individual in the Muslim community for your dissatisfaction, but the truth is that my father always fought for social justice with great commitment,” Paswan remarked.

He emphasized that his political values are deeply ingrained in the principles upheld by his father.

“I carry his blood and values within me. I will strive to continue his legacy with the same integrity,” he stated.

Amid the heightened discussion surrounding the Waqf Amendment Bill, he asserted that his actions should be evaluated over time, rather than based on immediate political narratives.

“Time will reveal whether the choices made by Chirag Paswan were advantageous for you or not,” he concluded.
