Bengaluru, Nov 21 (NationPress) Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar emphasized on Thursday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is a prominent figure in the party, and all juniors should listen to him with respect and humility.

“We have never stated that the Chief Minister won't serve a full term of five years. He has confirmed his intention to remain for five years. It’s crucial for younger members to listen to the wisdom of their elders with the proper decorum and humility,” Shivakumar remarked.

He asserted that there has been no challenge to the authority of the Chief Minister, noting that it was Siddaramaiah who discussed the potential reshuffling of the cabinet.

Regarding his meeting with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Shivakumar advised against fostering unnecessary rumors, reiterating that he stands ready to consult senior leaders when the party requires their insights.

“Mallikarjun Kharge is not just our party president; he is our leader. It is our obligation to meet him during his visits, and we must honor his seniority and esteemed position,” he added.

When questioned about any prevailing confusion, Shivakumar clarified that there is no discord, stating, “The only confusion is among the media.”

“Neither the Chief Minister nor I have any misunderstandings. Siddaramaiah has expressed his dedication to the directives of the AICC leadership, and we have affirmed our commitment as well. So, where is the confusion?”

He mentioned that the process for selecting the candidate for the Legislative Council graduates’ constituency has commenced.

“I have also deliberated on the appointments for the Council Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson,” he noted.

Shivakumar also pointed out that Congress has released the list for 369 wards in Bengaluru. “I visited Bengaluru Central Prison recently to meet our MLAs, who are incarcerated due to political motives,” he stated.

In a prior visit to the Bengaluru Central Jail, Shivakumar offered his support to Congress MLAs Vinay Kulkarni and Veerendra Pappi, who are currently under trial.

Despite reports of a ministerial group in Delhi advocating for a leadership change in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reaffirmed that he will continue to lead and will present the state budget for the remaining term of the government.
