Amaravati, June 13 (NationPress) The World Economic Forum (WEF) is set to launch the Centre for Energy and Cyber Resilience in Amaravati, in collaboration with the government of Andhra Pradesh. This move has been hailed as a pivotal advancement towards establishing Andhra Pradesh as a global leader in innovation and sustainable development.
This initiative aligns with the state's larger vision, known as ‘Swarnandhra Vision 2047’.
A Government Order (G.O.) released on June 12 details the creation of this groundbreaking Centre under the WEF’s global Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Network.
The state has allocated Rs 36 crore over the next three years to fund the centre's operations.
Initially, the centre will function from either Vijayawada or Amaravati and will be overseen by a high-level committee led by the HRD, IT Minister Nara Lokesh.
The centre's primary focus will include energy transition and green industries, working alongside the WEF’s Centre for Energy and Materials (CENMAT), as well as AI-driven digital transformation and cybersecurity, in collaboration with WEF’s Centre for Cybersecurity.
This initiative follows discussions with WEF in Davos and aims to position Amaravati as India’s foremost hub for green energy, sustainability, and cybersecurity.
The project aspires to enhance Andhra Pradesh’s international visibility and draw investments in clean energy, AI, and digital infrastructure, according to an official statement.
Key objectives of the centre include elevating Andhra Pradesh’s global standing, fostering international collaborations, promoting the growth of green industries, enhancing cybersecurity, implementing pilot projects in clean energy and smart grids, utilizing AI in sectors like agriculture and governance, training individuals in cybersecurity and emerging technologies, and linking the state to global platforms like the WEF’s Annual Meeting in Davos.
This will mark the second WEF centre in the Telugu states under its C4IR initiative.
Previously, the WEF had partnered with the Telangana government to establish a centre focused on healthcare and life sciences in Hyderabad.
