Chennai, Jan 25 (NationPress) Welcomed by a cacophony of whistles and enthusiastic cheers from party supporters, actor-turned-politician Vijay made his entrance into the meeting hall at Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu, on Sunday. This event marks his return to active political involvement and indicates a refreshed push from the TVK in anticipation of the upcoming Assembly elections.
As the state prepares for elections in the coming months, the political environment is increasingly charged. The primary opposition party, AIADMK, has kicked off its campaign with the motto “Protect the people, save Tamil Nadu,” positioning itself as a formidable competitor against the ruling government.
On the other hand, the ruling DMK expresses confidence in its chances of electoral success, citing its well-received welfare initiatives, particularly those targeting women.
In light of this dynamic political landscape, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has reaffirmed his dedication to progressing Tamil Nadu with unity and stability. Concurrently, the newly formed political entity, TVK, spearheaded by Vijay, is intensifying its organizational efforts and election preparations, aiming to establish itself as a viable alternative.
In previous public addresses, Vijay emphasized that while traditional parties often make broad and appealing promises, TVK will concentrate on initiatives that are realistic and actionable.
He asserted that the party’s strategy would emphasize credibility, governance feasibility, and accountability to the populace.
In recent days, TVK has conducted a series of internal discussions at its Panaiyur party office, including meetings of the manifesto drafting committee and the campaign committee as part of its electoral strategy.
After the public gathering in Erode on December 18, Vijay had largely refrained from public appearances and had stayed silent on matters such as the call for a CBI investigation linked to the 'Janayan' film controversy. Thus, his attendance at the Mamallapuram meeting garnered significant attention.
This meeting, held in a private venue, convened party officials from both state and district levels, with an expected attendance of around 3,000. Entry was limited to individuals carrying identification cards, and digital IDs were verified via QR codes to maintain discipline and organized mobilization.
General Secretary N. Anand oversaw the arrangements, having previously indicated that the meeting would focus on preparations for the Assembly elections.
Chief coordinator of the executive committee, Sengottaiyan, informed the media that TVK would initiate a statewide campaign starting from Chennai on January 26, covering all 234 Assembly constituencies.
He noted that the decision regarding whether the party would contest independently or form alliances would be made and communicated by Vijay. As TVK refines its approach throughout the state, the allocation of the whistle symbol has invigorated party members, further propelling Vijay’s political campaign.
