New Delhi, Oct 15 (NationPress) The nation came together to honor Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, a revered scientist and educator, known affectionately as the 'People’s President' and a lifelong teacher, on his birthday this Wednesday.

As the country reflects on the Missile Man’s lasting contributions, the 'Modi Archive'—a well-known social media account—shared a memorable train journey of Dr Kalam, recounted by then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. He illustrated how this experience opened the eyes of the eminent scientist.

On Wednesday, the Modi Archive released an archived speech from 2005, where the former CM recounted Dr Kalam’s inaugural train trip from Rameswaram to Delhi, which significantly shaped the scientist’s understanding of India’s vastness and rich diversity.

In a video from May 5, 2005, the former Gujarat CM details an article that chronicles Abdul Kalam’s first train journey as he set off for his initial job interview in Delhi, leaving his hometown for the first time.

The writer who documented Dr Kalam’s journey noted that he embarked on this trip under challenging economic circumstances, opting for a local train.

After several days of travel and interactions with a wide array of individuals from various backgrounds, he encountered a “whole new experience” while on the local train.

“This journey opened his eyes to the myriad cultures, languages, and dialects present across the nation. His inaugural train ride enriched him with insights into India’s diverse and intricate heritage and traditions,” recalled the former Gujarat CM as he shared Dr Kalam’s experience as a student.

It is noteworthy that Dr Kalam’s birth anniversary is also recognized as World Students' Day, celebrating his belief that “education is the most powerful tool for bringing lasting change.”

Earlier today, PM Modi honored Dr Kalam on his birth anniversary by reflecting on his invaluable contributions to the country.
