Etawah, March 12 (NationPress) The women of Etawah celebrated with great joy upon receiving the advantages of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, a program aimed at providing LPG connections to women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) households.
This initiative, which seeks to enhance the livelihoods of women, has struck a chord across various communities, with both Hindu and Muslim women expressing their appreciation.
During the festive months of Holi and Ramazan, a spirit of togetherness and joy permeated the atmosphere as eligible women from all backgrounds united to receive their gas refill subsidies.
The distribution event was held at the Prerna Auditorium in Vikas Bhawan, where numerous women benefited from the subsidies, supported by representatives from different gas distribution companies in the area.
A total of 161,000 eligible women in the Etawah district received the benefits under this program.
Among them, 28,000 beneficiaries saw Rs 561 credited directly to their accounts as part of the gas refill subsidy. This initiative symbolizes the state government's unwavering dedication to empowering women by providing access to cleaner cooking solutions.
BJP MLA Sarita Bhadauria, who was present as the chief guest, praised the scheme and extended her heartfelt wishes to the women of Etawah.
"Our Chief Minister has provided significant clarity regarding this initiative for the benefit of the women of Uttar Pradesh," Bhadauria remarked.
"This represents a significant advancement towards ensuring that women can access safer and more efficient cooking methods," she added.
She also congratulated all residents of Etawah on the occasion of Holi and Ramzan, emphasizing the importance of this gesture during the festive period.
Earlier that day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed gas cylinder refill subsidies to 1.86 crore eligible families throughout the state.
He highlighted that the state government has allocated Rs 1,890 crore for this initiative, as part of a larger Rs 3,760 crore investment in the scheme aimed at uplifting families and enhancing their quality of life.
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, initiated in 2016, continues to offer essential support to BPL households by providing free LPG connections.
As of March 2024, over 10.27 crore women have benefited from this program, with further expansions anticipated in the forthcoming years.
