Amaravati, June 3 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, conducted a review of the preparations for the largest-ever Yoga session slated to take place in Visakhapatnam on International Yoga Day, expecting the participation of 500,000 individuals.
He emphasized the government's ambition to secure a Guinness World Record and insisted that thorough preparations are essential for the event on June 21.
With the anticipated presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the celebrations, the CM directed that traffic restrictions should be efficiently managed to avoid any public inconvenience.
He highlighted the necessity of providing clear instructions regarding routes and designated participation zones for attendees arriving from various regions.
“There must be no confusion or discomfort. Everyone should reach their designated area without any obstacles,” stated the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) quoting him.
He expressed his pleasure at the overwhelming public interest in the June 21 event. He noted significant registrations and public involvement in Yoga sessions across districts thus far.
To generate excitement for the Visakhapatnam program, the CM proposed two large pre-events.
On June 7, Yoga awareness rallies are scheduled to occur in every village and locality across the state, while on June 14, Yoga practice sessions are set to happen in 100,000 locations, including all educational institutions and public spaces.
These initiatives aim to mentally and physically prepare the community, ensuring enthusiastic participation on Yoga Day.
Ministers Nara Lokesh, Kandula Durgesh, Vangalapudi Anitha, Dola Balaveeranjaneyaswamy, Satya Kumar, along with Chief Secretary Vijay Anand and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, were present at the review meeting.
Officials updated the CM on activities conducted during ‘Yoga Month’ and the various strategies being implemented for a successful Yoga Day event. Daily themed Yoga events involving diverse segments of society have garnered positive feedback, the CM was informed.
Officials also shared that German hangars are being arranged as backup venues in case of rain on June 21 in Visakhapatnam.
Special Chief Secretary Krishna Babu indicated that registrations are flooding in from every village, exceeding expectations. Certificates are being issued to participants attending Yoga for three consecutive days, and a dedicated app is available for generating digital certificates.
Students, women, SHG members, and the general public are actively engaging in the registration process. The estimated total participation is 20 million across the state, with 17.7 million registrations already completed.
While the goal was to train 2,600 master trainers, 5,353 have already been identified, who have trained 148,000 Yoga practitioners, surpassing the initial target of 125,000.
