Visakhapatnam, June 16 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, conducted a thorough review of the preparations for the upcoming International Yoga Day event, set for June 21 at RK Beach.
During a meeting with officials and public representatives, the Chief Minister emphasized that all preparations are finalized for this momentous occasion, where an expected 500,000 participants will engage in a collective Yoga session at a single venue.
He inspected the main stage being constructed for Prime Minister Narendra Modi along RK Beach Road and provided numerous recommendations to the organizing officials. A visit to the Andhra University College Ground was also made to evaluate the preparations there.
“This will be the most extensive and important event I have managed. Yoga has the potential to revolutionize the health sector. We are planning a mock event on June 20 to ensure everything runs smoothly. We will unveil the Visakhapatnam Yoga Day Declaration, outlining the roles of both central and state governments in promoting Yoga,” he mentioned.
Naidu highlighted that Prime Minister Modi had recognized Visakhapatnam as a prime location for the 11th International Yoga Day and expressed confidence in the state government’s capability to host it successfully.
He noted that arrangements are being made to facilitate public participation from RK Beach to Bhogapuram. “It’s a privilege for us to host such a prestigious global event in this beautiful city. Yoga should become an integral part of everyone’s future. In our fast-paced technological age, Yoga offers solutions to anxiety, stress, and health challenges,” he stated.
Under the theme 'YogAndhra', the state government is organizing a month-long series of activities statewide. “On June 21, Yoga sessions will take place in 100,000 locations across Andhra Pradesh, with an anticipated 20 million participants. To date, 217 million individuals have registered. We aim to issue certificates to 2.5 million participants and are hopeful to set a Guinness World Record in the process,” he declared.
Naidu invited everyone, regardless of gender, to participate. “We will have trainers and medical staff on hand. Facilities including one toilet for every 100 individuals and transportation services for participants are organized. There’s also an opportunity for recognition in the World Book of Records. Yoga demonstrations will even take place on 11 Navy ships. Should unforeseen circumstances arise at RK Beach, we are equipped to relocate to Andhra University. Arrangements for 350,000 Yoga mats have been made, and T-shirts for 500,000 participants will be distributed.
He disclosed that the Bill Gates Foundation has pledged support for the health sector in Andhra Pradesh, initiating a pilot project in Kuppam. This will expand to Chittoor in six months and eventually statewide within two years. “I am committed to transforming Andhra Pradesh into a Healthy Andhra – a state that embodies health, wealth, and happiness,” he concluded.
