Lucknow, April 26, 2025 — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday presided over the passing out parade ceremony of the state's first-ever batch of 60,244 Constable Civil Police Direct Recruitment 2025, held across multiple training centres in Lucknow and across the state. The Chief Minister personally honoured standout recruits with awards for excellence across various performance categories, marking a landmark moment in UP Police modernisation.

A Historic Milestone for UP Police Recruitment

The scale of this recruitment drive is unprecedented in Uttar Pradesh's policing history. The passing out parades were conducted simultaneously across 10 police training institutions, police lines in 73 districts, 29 PAC battalions, and 112 recruit training centres spread throughout the state — a logistical feat reflecting the sheer magnitude of the batch.

It was on June 15, 2025, that Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to all 60,244 selected candidates at the Defence Expo Ground in Lucknow. Their formal training commenced on July 21, culminating in Sunday's grand ceremony.

CM Yogi's Address: Discipline, Duty and Dedication

He underlined that discipline and teamwork form the bedrock of any uniformed force, adding that the more one sweats during training, the less likely there will be a need for bloodshed later in life. The Chief Minister also stressed that the law must be uncompromisingly strict towards criminals while remaining sensitive and humane towards ordinary citizens.

Transformation of UP Police Infrastructure Since 2017

CM Yogi Adityanath used the occasion to draw a sharp contrast between the state of police infrastructure before and after 2017, when his government came to power. He noted that before 2017, police barracks were in poor condition — often makeshift or tin-roofed — whereas now, high-rise residential and barrack facilities have been developed in 55 districts.

The Chief Minister highlighted a series of reforms undertaken under his administration: training centres have been upgraded, a UP Police Training Portal has been launched, and physical training has been modernised through a Smart PT programme. Outdoor training now employs modern INSAS and SLR rifles, replacing the outdated .303 rifles that were in use for decades.

He further noted that over 2.18 lakh police personnel have been recruited under his government, with more than one lakh personnel promoted — figures that underline a sustained push to strengthen the force both numerically and professionally.

Cybercrime, Forensics and Elite Training: UP Police Goes Modern

Beyond physical training, CM Yogi highlighted the state's investment in specialised capabilities. Cyber police stations have now been established in all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, with dedicated training to combat the rising threat of modern cybercrime.

The Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences has been established in Lucknow to train personnel in scientific investigation techniques, bringing the state's policing closer to international standards. Additionally, UP ATS personnel are now being trained in alignment with NIA and international agency standards, alongside soft skills and practical efficiency modules.

CM Yogi Adityanath asserted that the UP Police has evolved into a model smart force — one where riots no longer occur, parallel power structures have been dismantled, and illegal extortion has been effectively curbed.
