Yogi Adityanath announces 1 lakh new UP Police recruits in 2025
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday, 28 April announced that one lakh new recruitments will be carried out in the Uttar Pradesh Police this year, in a major push to modernise and expand the state's law enforcement apparatus. The announcement was made at a function held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow, where appointment letters were distributed to 936 Head Operators and Head Operators (Mechanical) selected in the UP Police Telecommunication Department.
Scale of the Recruitment Drive
The one-lakh recruitment target is among the most ambitious announced by the Yogi Adityanath government since it took office. According to officials, the initiative is aimed at strengthening the state's law enforcement capacity while simultaneously generating employment opportunities for the youth of Uttar Pradesh. However, as of the date of the announcement, no formal notification to this effect has been issued, and the drive is yet to take concrete shape.
This announcement comes against the backdrop of significant recent activity in UP's recruitment landscape. In the last three days alone, examinations have been conducted to recruit 41,000 personnel in the UP Home Guards. Recruitment processes for the Civil Police, Home Guards, and other wings have also reportedly picked up pace.
Yogi on Merit-Based Recruitment
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi underscored that the current government has overhauled the recruitment process to ensure fairness and transparency. He stated that the double-engine government has created an environment where recruitment is conducted without bias or corruption.
