Lucknow, April 2 (NationPress) The government of Uttar Pradesh is embarking on an extensive recruitment initiative within the police sector this year, aiming to fill over 81,000 positions across various classifications, as stated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during a recent late-night review session.

Designating the financial year 2026-27 as pivotal for young job seekers, the Chief Minister emphasized that this substantial hiring effort will not only create job opportunities but also bolster the state's law enforcement capabilities with a more dynamic and modernized workforce.

In a directive, he instructed the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board to ensure all selections are executed in a transparent, timely manner, strictly following meritocratic principles and reservation standards.

Officials reported that recruitment is slated for roles such as Sub-Inspector, Constable Civil Police, Radio Assistant Operator, Computer Operator Grade-A, and Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential), with the recruitment process already underway for some categories.

During the law and order review, CM Adityanath highlighted that enhancing policing necessitates a balanced focus on technology, transparency, and competent human resources. He urged for accountability at all levels and a results-driven work culture to foster greater public trust in the system.

A key area of focus during the meeting was the operation of the PRV-112 emergency response service. The Chief Minister pointed out that the current average response time is approximately six minutes and directed officials to aim to decrease it further by improving coordination, technology utilization, and data-driven patrolling.

He also emphasized the strategic positioning of Police Response Vehicles to ensure their constant movement for increased visibility and deterrence.

In a bid to enhance administrative efficiency, the Chief Minister ordered the transfer of personnel who have been stationed for extended periods at significant establishments in Lucknow, including Raj Bhavan, the Chief Minister's residence, and Police Headquarters.

The review also addressed fire and emergency services, with officials revealing that nearly 42,000 fire incidents were managed in 2025-26, saving property valued at around Rs 800 crore.

CM Adityanath mandated that every district must have at least one hydraulic fire tender and urged officials to accelerate the 'One Tehsil–One Fire Tender' initiative within a stipulated timeframe. He also highlighted the necessity of intensified public awareness campaigns, particularly before the summer season.

Regarding cybercrime, the Chief Minister was informed that fraud amounting to Rs 425.7 crore was prevented in the last financial year due to prompt technical intervention. There were over 3.9 lakh complaints received, with more than 2.4 lakh registered and legal actions taken in over 7,000 cases. The cyber helpline 1930 has seen a significant increase in call capacity, rising from around 1,700 to over 7,400 calls daily.

Adityanath directed officials to enhance cybercrime response to be more technology-focused and prompt, stressing that protecting citizens' finances should remain a top priority. He also advocated for broader awareness campaigns on secure digital practices and the reinforcement of helpline systems.

The meeting reviewed the status of pending vigilance cases, with 414 investigations currently in progress. The Chief Minister instructed that older cases be resolved in a timely manner and called for intensified anti-corruption actions through trap and search operations.

In the prison department, he directed officials to ensure strong arrangements for court appearances via video conferencing, while in the police radio division, there was a call to complete the rollout of the e-office system across all 75 districts. Digitization has already been achieved in 63 districts.

Training and capacity development were also on the agenda, with officials reporting that over 60,000 constables have received basic training and more than 23 lakh courses have been completed under Mission Karmayogi. The Chief Minister requested modern, practical, and outcome-driven training modules, particularly for a proposed batch of 4,500 sub-inspectors in the upcoming year.

He also evaluated the performance of specialized units such as the Economic Offences Wing and Crime Investigation Department, directing stricter measures against financial crimes and enhancing investigation processes in accordance with new criminal legislation.

In terms of infrastructure, the Police Housing Corporation reported the completion of 142 projects valued at approximately Rs 350 crore in the last financial year, with a target of 226 projects set for 2026–27. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of quality and timelines and suggested the establishment of a dedicated fund for housing facilities.

Emphasizing the significance of community involvement, the Chief Minister noted that around 7,500 civil defence volunteers have been recruited and instructed that their training be expedited to construct a more robust grassroots security network.

The Government Railway Police also provided updates on crime control and passenger safety measures, including initiatives under 'Operation Muskaan', which successfully reunited over 2,300 missing children with their families. The Chief Minister mandated that passenger safety be further prioritized through enhanced technological surveillance.

In summary, the review underscored the government's commitment to expanding personnel, modernizing systems, and improving response capabilities to fortify law enforcement and public safety throughout Uttar Pradesh.
