Lucknow, Aug 3 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, conveyed his profound sadness regarding the tragic incident in Gonda district, where 11 lives were lost. In response, he announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for each family affected by this devastating event.

Officials confirmed that a vehicle, which was transporting at least 14 passengers, tragically plunged into the Saryu canal in Gonda district on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of eleven individuals and injuries to several others.

In his heartfelt message on X, CM Yogi Adityanath stated, "The loss of lives in this unfortunate accident is profoundly tragic and heart-wrenching. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving families."

"Instructions have been issued to ensure that Rs 5 lakh is provided to the families of those who perished, while also directing district officials to ensure that the injured receive immediate medical attention," he added.

We pray for the departed souls and hope for the quick recovery of those injured," he stated.

Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal noted, "The 11 individuals were traveling in a Bolero from Sihagaon in the Motiganj police station area to offer prayers at the Prithvi Nath temple in Khargupur when their vehicle fell into the canal and capsized."

SP Jaiswal also reported that four individuals were rescued from the canal with minor injuries and have been admitted to the District Hospital for treatment.
