Lucknow, Aug 3 (NationPress) A tragic incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district where at least 11 individuals lost their lives and many others sustained injuries after a vehicle, carrying around 14 passengers, drove off into the Saryu canal on Sunday, as confirmed by officials.
According to Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal, "Eleven individuals who were on a Bolero traveling from Sihagaon in the Motiganj police station area to offer prayers at the Prithvi Nath temple in Khargupur tragically perished when the vehicle plunged into the canal and submerged."
Eyewitnesses who witnessed the vehicle sink promptly alerted the local police station, while others notified the village head (Gram Pradhan).
Responding quickly, personnel from the ItiyaThok police station arrived at the scene and, with assistance from locals, recovered the bodies of the victims, which included men, women, and children.
SP Jaiswal also reported that four individuals were successfully rescued from the canal with minor injuries and have been admitted to the District Hospital for medical treatment.
