Patna, March 19 (NationPress) In a devastating road incident in Nalanda, Bihar, two engineering students tragically lost their lives, while three others sustained injuries on Thursday.

The unfortunate event took place near Salepur village under the Chandi Police Station jurisdiction around 1 PM, when a speeding SUV, transporting five students, lost control.

The vehicle veered off the roadway, crashed through the guardrail of a nearby bridge, and fell approximately 20 feet into a water-filled pit below.

Before its descent, the SUV collided with a tree, resulting in significant damage.

All five individuals, aged between 20 and 25, were students who were reportedly enjoying a recreational outing when the accident occurred.

Upon notification, law enforcement from the Chandi Police Station, along with local residents, initiated a rescue mission.

The Station House Officer confirmed the occurrence of the accident.

The victims were extricated from the wreckage and rushed to a nearby medical facility. Unfortunately, two students succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Ashish Kumar and Rahul Kumar.

The injured individuals—Utsav Singh, Shashikant, and Dheeraj Kashyap—received initial medical assistance before being transferred to Sadar Hospital in Biharsharif for advanced care.

Authorities indicated that two of the injured remain in critical condition, while the third is stable.

“The preliminary investigation suggests that the SUV was traveling at a high velocity, and the driver lost control, resulting in the tragic accident,” he stated.

“All victims are students of Chandi Engineering College, hailing from Rohtas and Samastipur districts. We have notified the families of the victims,” the SHO added.

“The deceased bodies were retrieved and sent to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations,” he remarked.
