Bihar: Tragic Road Mishap Claims Two Lives

Patna, Jan 11 (NationPress) Two individuals lost their lives and five others sustained injuries on Saturday morning after an unidentified vehicle collided with a Creta SUV in the Nalanda district of Bihar.

The collision occurred near the Dhobi Bigha Bridge in the area covered by Chero Sahayak police station along NH 30.

It is believed that poor visibility due to fog contributed to this deadly crash, which took place at 8 a.m. The victims were traveling to Rajgir for a picnic in their newly acquired Creta SUV when the incident transpired.

The deceased have been identified as Munni Devi (55), spouse of Lal Babu alias Tuntun, a resident of Sakri Gali under Alamganj police station in Patna district, and Anshi Kumari (10), daughter of the SUV owner Ranjit Kumar, who lives in Mahendrusudi Gali under Pirbahor police station, Patna district.

The injured individuals were immediately taken to a hospital in Patna for medical attention, with the more serious cases referred to an advanced medical facility. Chero Police Station Incharge Vikas Kumar stated that the police swiftly arrived at the accident scene after being notified.

“We recovered the deceased bodies and transported them to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Efforts are ongoing to locate the unidentified vehicle, suspected to be a truck, utilizing CCTV footage. The truck driver fled the scene following the impact,” Kumar mentioned.

Family members reported that the car driver, Ranjit Kumar, had recently purchased the SUV. The low visibility caused by the heavy fog highlights the dangers associated with road travel under such conditions, raising concerns about road safety and the responsibility of unidentified vehicles involved in accidents of this nature.

In a similar incident on December 23, five individuals were killed, and six others were injured when a speeding pickup van struck them in Purnea district. The pickup van, driven by Sonu Kumar, crashed into a group of eleven people who were near the Panchayat Bhawan in Dhakwa village, Purnea district, Bihar, around 9:30 p.m. on that day.
