Key Takeaways
Raipur/Korba, April 3 (NationPress) A tragic incident unfolded late Thursday night when a young man lost his life and two others were left fighting for their lives following a severe collision between an SUV and a heavy trailer on the Tarda-Bharatmala road, within the jurisdiction of the Urga Police Station in Korba district, Chhattisgarh.
Authorities reported that three employees of a private firm based in Raipur were en route to Korba when the accident occurred.
The collision happened near Tarda, with the SUV crashing into the trailer, leading to extensive damage. One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two suffered serious injuries.
Rescue personnel had to employ gas cutters to free the trapped individuals from the wreckage before transporting them to the hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Arun Kumar Yadav, aged 27, from Sunai village in Garhwa district, Jharkhand. He had been working with a Raipur company for two years and was married for just three years, leaving behind a wife and a child.
The injured include Chandra Prakash Yadav, 26, from Raipur, and Nagendra Sahu, 30, from Semra village in Dhamtari district. They were initially taken to Korba Medical College Hospital but were later referred to Raipur due to the severity of their injuries.
“Upon receiving the report of the accident, our team quickly arrived at the scene. We collaborated with local rescue services to cut through the vehicle and safely extract the victims. The injured received immediate first aid before being transported to the hospital. A thorough investigation has commenced to ascertain the exact cause of the collision, which includes assessing speed, visibility, and road conditions at night,” stated Rajesh Tiwari, the investigation officer from Urga police station.
Initial inquiries suggest that the accident resulted from a sudden impact between the vehicles, although the exact cause—be it overspeeding, mechanical failure, or poor visibility—remains under investigation.
“Incidents like this on the highway underscore the dangers of nighttime travel on mixed traffic routes where heavy vehicles coexist with passenger cars,” the investigation officer emphasized, urging drivers to maintain safe speeds and exercise heightened caution during late hours.
The Urga Police have filed a case and continue to investigate. Authorities have urged motorists to stay alert on the Tarda-Bharatmala stretch that experiences significant trailer and commercial traffic.
