Patna, Feb 27 (NationPress) Four individuals lost their lives and six others sustained injuries when a speeding truck collided with an auto-rickshaw in Bihar's Bhojpur district on National Highway 922 on Thursday.

The victims were returning from Gupta Dham after participating in a Mundan ceremony when the tragic event occurred around 5 a.m. near Fauji Fuel Station, within the jurisdiction of the Shahpur police station.

As per the Shahpur SHO, the auto driver had parked the vehicle at the roadside and entered the fuel station to buy petrol, leaving the passengers inside.

“A high-speed truck crashed into the parked auto from behind, propelling it into the air before it landed on the road. The force of the collision threw some passengers out,” stated the SHO.

Upon notification, local police and emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured.

The injured were promptly transported to Sadar Hospital, Arrah, where medical personnel confirmed the deaths of the four individuals.

“Two of the deceased hailed from Patna, while the other two were from Saran district. We have notified their families regarding the incident,” the SHO mentioned.

After the collision, the truck driver fled the scene. Investigative measures are underway to locate both the vehicle and the driver.

“An FIR has been filed against the fleeing truck driver for reckless and negligent driving, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him,” he added.

Previously, on February 21, a devastating road accident claimed the lives of six people in Bihar's Bhojpur district. This incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. near Dulhinganj Bazar under the Jagdishpur police station on the Arrah-Mohania four-lane road.

The victims, who were residents of Patna's Jakkanpur and Kumhrar locality, were returning from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj when their high-speed Baleno car collided with a parked truck.

These incidents have raised significant concerns over reckless driving and road safety along Bihar’s highways.
