Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Mathura on Thursday, 3 September for a two-day visit timed to coincide with the Janmashtami festival, during which he is set to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects collectively valued at approximately ₹1,051 crore. The centrepiece of the visit is the inauguration of the newly built Swami Haridas Auditorium in Vrindavan, a cultural venue equipped to seat around 1,000 people.

Day One: Arrival, Inspection, and Inauguration

The Chief Minister landed at the Pawan Hans helipad in Mathura at around 1 pm IST, after which he travelled by road to inspect the Bhakti Marg developed along the Panigaon link road. He then proceeded to the Geeta Research Institute, where he chaired a review meeting of the Braj Tirtha Vikas Parishad at approximately 2:30 pm. The meeting covered ongoing development works and pending issues related to the Braj region.

At around 3:30 pm, Yogi Adityanath formally inaugurated several completed projects and laid the foundation stones for others, with the combined outlay standing at ₹1,051 crore. Both the Geeta Research Institute and the Shri Haridas Auditorium were decorated ahead of the event, and the Chief Minister addressed the gathering at the new auditorium.

Swami Haridas Auditorium: A New Cultural Hub for Vrindavan

The Shri Haridas Auditorium in Vrindavan is designed to serve as a dedicated venue for cultural and religious programmes in the region. With a seating capacity of approximately 1,000, the facility is expected to significantly boost the infrastructure available for events in one of India's most visited pilgrimage towns. This comes amid a broader state push to develop Braj as a world-class religious tourism destination.

Day Two: Prayers at Shri Krishna Janmasthan Temple

After concluding Thursday's engagements, the Chief Minister spent the night at the Veterinary University in Mathura. On Friday morning, he is scheduled to visit the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Temple — the birthplace of Lord Krishna — to offer prayers on the occasion of Janmashtami. The visit underscores the Uttar Pradesh government's emphasis on combining religious observance with infrastructure delivery in the state's key pilgrimage corridors.

Braj Development in Focus

The visit is part of a sustained state effort to upgrade civic, cultural, and religious infrastructure across the Braj belt, which encompasses Mathura, Vrindavan, and surrounding areas. The Braj Tirtha Vikas Parishad, the nodal body overseeing this push, reviewed progress on multiple fronts during Thursday's meeting. Notably, large-scale project announcements timed to Janmashtami have become a pattern under the Yogi government, using the festival's visibility to signal developmental intent to both residents and pilgrims.
