Youth Congress Members Demonstrate Against PM Modi's Visit to Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 30 (NationPress) On Saturday, the members of the Odisha Congress initiated a demonstration in Bhubaneswar against the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The Odisha Pradesh Youth Congress, along with the party's student wing, marched from Congress Bhawan, the headquarters of the party in the state, to the Lok Seva Bhawan, where the 59th All India DG/IGP conference is currently taking place.
During this rally, Congress members and leaders clashed with police when officers attempted to halt their march at the Lower PMG Square.
The protestors, carrying black balloons, chanted slogans directed against PM Modi and Home Minister Shah as they progressed through the city.
Senior Congress figure Yashir Nawaz addressed the media, asserting that there are two distinct sets of laws in the state: one for BJP leaders and another for ordinary citizens.
He claimed that no measures have been taken against the Governor's son for assaulting an Odia individual, despite numerous protests, while the Crime Branch acted swiftly to arrest the sibling of a senior BJD leader recently.
“Since the BJP assumed power, the law-and-order situation has worsened in the state. The BJP government is allocating significant projects, such as the Metro Railway initiative, to companies that have been blacklisted,” Nawaz stated.
He further criticized PM Modi for making grand promises during his visits to the state while neglecting discussions on pressing issues and the commitments made to the populace.
In response to the Congress's accusations, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan remarked that the Congress party is evolving into an anti-national entity. “Whenever someone abroad criticizes PM Modi or makes disparaging remarks about the country, Congress rallies in support of them and organizes protests,” he said.
It is essential to note that PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, NSA Ajit Doval, chiefs of all state police forces, and other dignitaries are gathered in Bhubaneshwar for a three-day DG/IGP conference from November 29 to December 1.
