Palanpur (Gujarat), Jan 24 (NationPress) A serious road incident occurred on the Palanpur-Deesa highway near Kushkal Patiya in Gujarat's Banaskantha district, leading to a storm of controversy. Allegations have surfaced claiming that a vehicle associated with Congress MP Geniben Thakor collided with a motorcyclist and subsequently left the scene.

According to statements from the victim's family and local witnesses, the troubling event unfolded on Friday afternoon when a car, reportedly carrying MP Geniben Thakor, struck a motorcycle driven by a young man, inflicting critical injuries. Despite the presence of the MP and her companions in the vehicle, they allegedly failed to stop after the accident and continued driving.

The injured individual was reportedly left unconscious at the accident site for nearly three hours before being transported to Palanpur Civil Hospital. Medical professionals have reported that his condition is severe, and he is currently undergoing treatment.

Family members have raised concerns, alleging that photographs and videos captured at the accident scene were deleted by the MP and her associates, which raises questions about the potential destruction of evidence. The victim's brother informed reporters that their immediate focus is on securing appropriate medical care for the injured youth.

“Once he is stable, we will consider our next steps legally,” he stated, emphasizing the family's pursuit of justice. They also claimed that the MP did not visit the injured youth immediately after the collision, meeting him only the next day in the hospital.

In response, MP Geniben Thakor has vehemently refuted the allegations. In an interview with IANS, she stated that the incident occurred around 2 p.m. and insisted that her vehicle was not involved in the accident. “I was merely passing through when a 16-year-old boy collided with stray cattle and fell in front of my vehicle. My vehicle played no role in the accident,” she asserted.

Thakor further contended that CCTV footage from the scene supports her account. “The footage clearly shows that the boy struck the cattle on his own,” she stated to IANS.

The MP added that she visited the injured boy in the hospital out of humanitarian concern. “I met him yesterday and again today to check on his health and have offered to cover his medical expenses, as he comes from a family of laborers,” she explained.

As of now, police officials have not released an official statement regarding the incident or the allegations made. A further investigation is pending.
