Jaipur, June 26 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, addressed the 11th convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur, marking a significant milestone for the graduating class. Sharma highlighted the integral role of youth in shaping a prosperous Rajasthan and India, encouraging students to embrace lifelong learning, nurture their dreams, and adhere to the motto of 'India First'.
“A convocation represents not merely a memory but a pivotal moment in one's journey. The youth graduating today are the backbone of our nation's aspirations for development,” stated Sharma.
He underscored the state government's dedication to empowering the youth, noting that Rajasthan is investing significantly in technology, startups, and education to create ample employment opportunities.
“Our administration appreciates the vigor of youth and the capability of innovation. We are establishing platforms that link knowledge to global prospects,” he remarked.
As he congratulated the graduates and medal recipients, the Chief Minister praised IIT Jodhpur as one of India's leading institutions in education and research, especially in areas such as computer science, AI, data science, mechanical, electrical, and bio-engineering.
“IIT Jodhpur is a brilliant gem of Marudhara, lighting the way to progress not only in Rajasthan but across the entire country,” he added.
Reflecting on India's illustrious history, Sharma stressed the nation’s profound legacy in science and mathematics. He acknowledged historical figures like Aryabhatta, Bhaskaracharya, and Brahmagupta, asserting that India's contributions to mathematics, including the decimal system and trigonometry, laid the groundwork for contemporary science.
He outlined the state’s objectives, stating that the government is diligently working to grow Rajasthan’s economy to $350 billion by 2030.
Key initiatives include the Rising Rajasthan Summit, where MoUs totaling Rs 35 lakh crore were signed. Priority sectors encompass renewable energy, energy storage, waste-to-energy, tourism, mining, textiles, AI, quantum computing, and cybersecurity.
Additionally, the training of 1.5 lakh youth within two years under the State Skill Policy is also underway. Sharma referenced initiatives like the Atal Innovation Studio, Accelerate, Startup Launchpad, TechBee, LEAP, and the Center for Advanced Skilling.
The Chairman of IIT Jodhpur Board of Governors, A.S. Kiran Kumar, characterized the institute as a center of innovation and academic distinction, encouraging graduates to leverage their knowledge and values for national upliftment.
Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal, Director of IIT Jodhpur, also spoke at the event. During the ceremony, CM Sharma awarded degrees to graduates and honored academic achievers with gold medals and awards.
The event was graced by various dignitaries, including Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, Minister of State for Industry KK Vishnoi, MLAs Babu Singh Rathore and Bhaira Ram Seoul, along with IIT Jodhpur Deputy Director Prof. Bhavani Kumar Satpathi, faculty, students, and their families.
