Amaravati, April 17 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of Andhra Pradesh expressed its approval on Thursday regarding the Supreme Court's examination of the Waqf Board Amendment Act, 2025, viewing it as a significant stride towards justice for the Muslim community.

Former MLA and YSRCP leader M.A. Hafeez Khan conveyed his confidence in the judicial system, highlighting that the Chief Justice of India shared the party’s concerns about the Act.

In response to a petition from the YSRCP, the Supreme Court raised questions about the inclusion of non-Muslims in Waqf Boards, suggesting that the Act may infringe on fundamental rights, Khan informed journalists in Kurnool.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta requested a week to provide a response, while the Court mandated no de-notification of Waqf properties and maintained the status quo on assets and appointments until the next hearing scheduled for May 5. Khan regarded this as a significant relief, reinforcing the YSRCP’s expectation of a positive ruling.

The YSRCP leader criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu, as well as Bihar Chief Minister and JD-U leader Nitish Kumar, for their alignment with the BJP’s agenda, which he claims undermines minority interests.

He cautioned that the Muslim community is closely observing the TDP’s actions and urged Naidu to withdraw from the NDA in support of minorities. "The YSRCP is steadfast in its commitment to advocate for the repeal of the Act, standing alongside the Muslim community. The Court’s inquiries reflect our position. Justice will prevail," Khan asserted.

In a related note, Member of the Telangana Legislative Council Amir Ali Khan expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s observations and directives regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act.

"The apex court’s position has brought significant relief to Muslims across the nation, reinforcing their trust in the judiciary," remarked Amir Ali Khan, affiliated with the ruling Congress.

Khan expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Muslim community in Telangana for their overwhelming participation in protests and special prayers on April 15, seeking divine intervention against the BJP government’s contentious legislation that threatens Muslim endowment properties.

He organized bike and car rallies in various districts, rallying thousands of supporters, with the campaign culminating in prayers in Hyderabad. He praised the community’s solidarity and welcomed the Supreme Court’s intervention as a step towards securing justice.

The MLC pledged to persist in his efforts until the legislation is completely rescinded.
