Amaravati, June 19 (NationPress) The Andhra Pradesh police have taken action against a member of the YSR Congress Party, arresting him for exhibiting controversial placards during the visit of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to Palnadu district, officials disclosed on Thursday.
The individual, identified as Ravi Teja, was apprehended for carrying a placard containing offensive content.
This YSRCP member, hailing from a village in Guntur district, was arrested following a formal complaint lodged by representatives of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
A legal case has been initiated against him at the Nekarikally Police Station in Palnadu district, where police are currently interrogating Ravi Teja.
The TDP, which governs the NDA in Andhra Pradesh, expressed strong disapproval of several placards. One placard held by Ravi Teja suggested that upon YSRCP's return to power in 2029, it would eliminate its adversaries similarly to how animals are slaughtered during the Gangamma Talli Jatara.
On Wednesday, Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Rentapalla village in Palnadu district to extend condolences to the family of YSRCP official Korlakunta Nagamalleswara Rao, who tragically took his own life allegedly due to police and TDP harassment.
Reddy's visit became a significant show of strength for the opposition party, with thousands of party workers joining his convoy.
Tragically, two individuals lost their lives during the former CM's visit. A 53-year-old man was struck by a vehicle in Jagan’s convoy in Guntur district, while another person collapsed while waiting to greet him in Sattenapalli, later passing away in a hospital.
Authorities had only authorized attendance for 100 individuals during Jagan’s visit, alongside a restricted convoy of three vehicles.
In response, police have initiated cases for violating these conditions, as well as for traffic violations, damage to public property, and disturbances to public order.
Legal actions have been taken against various YSRCP members, including Sattenapalli in-charge Sudheer Bhargav Reddy and former MLA Gopireddy Srinivas Reddy.
Furthermore, a case has been filed against YSRCP leader and former Minister Ambati Rambabu, who reportedly clashed with police and allegedly dismantled police barricades.
Rambabu is facing charges for obstructing police duties and allegedly assaulting officers.
A case against him has been registered at the Sattenapalli Rural Police Station.
