27.77 Crore Vaccination Doses Given to Pregnant Women and Children; Bihar and UP Lead the Charge: Government

New Delhi, Nov 29 (NationPress) The U-WIN digital platform has documented the administration of about 27.77 crore vaccine doses to pregnant women and children in India, with Bihar and Uttar Pradesh taking the lead, according to Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Friday.
U-WIN serves as a digital platform aimed at the digitization of all vaccination services offered under the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP), facilitating the timely administration of life-saving vaccines to pregnant women and children (from birth to 16 years) against 12 preventable diseases.
“As of November 25, 7.43 crore beneficiaries have been registered, with 1.26 crore vaccination sessions conducted and 27.77 crore vaccine doses recorded on U-WIN,” Patel noted.
“The increasing daily usage of the platform has significantly enhanced awareness and accessibility of immunization services among both citizens and frontline workers,” she added.
Bihar leads with over 6.7 crore total doses administered, followed by Uttar Pradesh (more than 5.9 crore doses) and Madhya Pradesh (2.2 crore). Lakshadweep, with 33,266 doses, has the lowest total.
Additionally, Uttar Pradesh boasts the highest number of registered beneficiaries (over 1.6 crore), trailed by Bihar (more than 1.5 crore). Lakshadweep has the fewest beneficiaries registered at 6,821.
With the nationwide rollout of U-WIN now complete, the Health Ministry aims to annually target around 2.9 crore pregnant women and 2.6 crore infants (0-1 year).
Key features of the platform include ‘Anytime Access’ and ‘Anywhere’ vaccination services, generation of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) and Child ABHA, a citizen module, automated SMS alerts, QR-based e-Vaccination Certificates, and offline data entry options for vaccinators.
The initial pilot of U-WIN was conducted across 63 districts in 35 States/UTs, followed by its nationwide rollout, as per the ministry's announcement.
