New Delhi, Oct 27 (NationPress) State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a significant enhancement of its partnership with Viasat India, an international communication company, aimed at fostering skill development and industry readiness in the realm of satellite communications and emerging technologies, along with the commercialization of advanced uncrewed aircraft solutions.
As part of this collaboration, the Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training (BRBRAITT), a dedicated training facility under BSNL in Jabalpur, will provide essential infrastructure and logistical support to facilitate local technology training programs.
BRBRAITT and Viasat will concentrate on promoting skills development and establishing a Centre of Excellence for Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), the Internet of Things (IoT), and other advanced technological fields.
“This strategic partnership aligns with our objective to nurture innovation and develop indigenous capabilities. The Centre of Excellence at BRBRAITT will prepare a new generation of professionals with vital skills, while our efforts to commercialize Viasat's Velaris will introduce innovative services for our customers, contributing to economic growth and development nationwide,” stated Robert J Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL.
BRBRAITT will offer cutting-edge infrastructure, classrooms, and logistical support for the training initiatives.
“Engineering students specializing in IT, Electronics & Communication, and Computer Science will have opportunities to engage in sessions and demonstrations of Viasat terminals at the Centre of Excellence through this partnership,” added BSNL.
This new partnership between BSNL and Viasat India was formally launched during the recent 'India Mobile Congress 2025'.
Under this agreement, Viasat and BSNL will also collaborate on the commercialization of Viasat’s Velaris uncrewed air solutions tailored for the Indian market.
Viasat's Velaris is a satellite communications service designed to provide secure and reliable connectivity for uncrewed aircraft operating beyond the visual line of sight.
