New Delhi, March 19 (NationPress) More than 76 crore Indians have now acquired an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID, as revealed by the latest statistics from the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.

The ABHA serves as a pivotal element of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), functioning as an account/number that consolidates all health records for an individual.

The objective of ABHA is to minimize out-of-pocket expenses for beneficiaries while enhancing access to quality healthcare.

As of now, a total of 55,10,259 ABHA accounts were established in March, with 1,67,257 accounts created on Wednesday, according to recent data.

Uttar Pradesh holds the record for the highest number of health accounts at 1319.1 lakh, followed closely by Rajasthan with 623.8 lakh and Maharashtra at 585.9 lakh.

On the other end of the spectrum, Lakshadweep has the fewest health accounts at 1.1 lakh, trailed by Ladakh with 3.9 lakh.

Moreover, men represent over 50 percent of the ABHA IDs, while the number of women with health accounts is below 50 percent.

Adults aged between 19-45 years hold the majority of ABHA IDs at 50.25 percent, followed by the 46-60 age group at 18.81 percent.

Children under 5 years account for approximately 2 percent, while those between 6-18 years represent 12.79 percent of ABHA ID holders.

ABHA facilitates cashless transactions and electronic health records, thereby reducing administrative complications and delays, allowing healthcare providers to concentrate on patient care.

Additionally, ABHA yields valuable data insights that can aid in evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation, helping to tackle healthcare challenges effectively and enhance the overall quality of care.

ABHA aims to establish a digital health ecosystem and promotes the digitization of healthcare. Individuals can enroll in the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) to create a Health ID or ABHA at no cost, as stated by the health ministry.
