New Delhi, May 29 (NationPress) The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, part of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is gearing up to host a conference centered on the critical role of artificial intelligence (AI) in empowering individuals with disabilities (PwDs).
This conference, organized in partnership with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), is scheduled for May 30 in Bengaluru.
According to the Ministry, “This groundbreaking initiative is designed to highlight the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in developing inclusive, accessible, and assistive solutions for persons with disabilities (PwDs).”
The event is anticipated to gather prominent academicians, technologists, innovators, policymakers, startups, and other stakeholders from around the world to engage in discussions and demonstrations of advanced AI applications that improve the quality of life for PwDs.
In addition to panel discussions, the conference will feature several launches, including the mission AI Accessibility, mission AI: Implementation of AI in Assistive Technology, National Disability Support AI Chat Bot, and the Unified Benefits Interface (UBI).
The conference will be a full-day event with sessions showcasing innovative strategies in AI and assistive technology. Inspirational real-life stories of change will be presented by leading entrepreneurs, change agents, and users of assistive technology solutions.
Moreover, startups participating in the India AI Challenge (MeitY) and global innovators will exhibit their advancements in assistive tools catering to various disabilities, including developmental, visual, auditory, and multiple disabilities. Notable participants include Dot Inc (South Korea), Torchit, Sunbots Innovations, Sohum Innovation Labs, Indic AI, Barrier Break, and Khyaal, among others.
