Bengaluru, Aug 3 (NationPress) In an effort to enhance India’s status as a global leader in high-tech manufacturing and innovation, a prominent delegation, headed by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia, visited Bengaluru to connect with startups and assess developments at the Tumakuru Industrial Area - a key initiative under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP), as stated in an official announcement on Sunday.
A press release from the Commerce Ministry indicated that the delegation toured the K-tech MeitY Nasscom Centre of Excellence for IoT & AI to interact with startup leaders and incubation experts, gain insights into the local innovation landscape, and pinpoint areas for policy enhancement to foster growth.
This centre, recognized as India’s largest deep-tech innovation hub, serves as a nexus for startups, innovators, enterprises, academia, and government, aiming to tackle real-world issues through advanced technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), AI, Data Science, Big Data, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Machine Learning, and Robotics.
The objective of the visit was to synchronize industrial infrastructure with India’s expanding deep-tech ecosystem, promote policy support, and expedite investments in advanced sectors like aerospace, electronics, clean tech, and logistics, as per the ministry's statement.
The delegation engaged with startup founders and incubation managers to discuss how these technologies can revolutionize the future of manufacturing, logistics, and urban solutions.
After the Investors Roundtable Conference in Bengaluru, Bhatia conducted a comprehensive review of the Tumakuru Industrial Area, a flagship initiative under the NICDP.
The Secretary assessed pivotal milestones, including Phase A development spanning 1,736 acres, advancements in internal roads, drainage, and utility corridors, as well as initiatives to support investors.
During discussions with Larsen and Toubro (L&T), the EPC contractor, and other project stakeholders, L&T assured officials that they would expedite work to ensure that land allotment to industries commences by year-end, as detailed in the filing.
To ensure the Tumakuru Industrial Area attracts both domestic and foreign investments in sectors such as electronics, automotive, clean tech, and logistics, Bhatia urged all stakeholders to adhere to the highest quality standards and meet established timelines.
The delegation also toured Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development Pvt. Ltd. and the Devanahalli Aerospace Special Economic Zone (SEZ), followed by a visit to Dynamatic Technologies, a leading aerospace components manufacturer, as reported by the Ministry.
This tour provided valuable insights into advanced manufacturing capabilities, precision engineering, and India’s evolving role in the global aerospace supply chain.
