Empowering Communities Through the National Ayush Mission for Affordable Healthcare

New Delhi, Dec 25 (NationPress) The National Ayush Mission (NAM) has significantly empowered communities by providing accessible and cost-effective healthcare rooted in traditional practices, emphasized Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for the Ministry of Ayush.
During the launch of a film series titled “Ayush for All: Holistic Health Care through National Ayush Mission” in the national capital, the minister highlighted the remarkable advancements and transformative effects of the NAM.
“This film series serves as a means to make information about our initiatives readily available to the public, illustrating Ayush’s crucial role in alleviating disease burden and fostering wellness throughout the country,” stated Jadhav.
The series presents real-life transformation stories, showcasing how NAM, in partnership with state and Union Territory governments, has enhanced healthcare accessibility and minimized out-of-pocket expenses for rural and underserved communities.
The ministry reports that the NAM aims to fortify Ayush healthcare services, promote preventive care through Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush), and integrate Ayush systems into mainstream public health.
Furthermore, the NAM prioritizes the growth of Ayush educational institutions to improve the quality of education and research. The initiative has also facilitated the establishment of 167 Integrated Ayush Hospitals, upgraded 416 Ayush Hospitals, and 5036 dispensaries.
Essential Ayush medicines are supplied annually to 996 hospitals and 12,405 dispensaries. The NAM has also supported the creation of 16 new Ayush educational institutions and enhanced 112 others.
In addition, 3,883 Yoga Wellness Centres, 1,055 Ayush Grams, and 12,500 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) have been established, promoting holistic wellness across the country, according to the ministry.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, mentioned that the NAM emphasizes strengthening Ayush healthcare services, establishing Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush), and encouraging medical pluralism.
“These initiatives are reshaping public health and enhancing access to preventive and promotive care nationwide,” he remarked.
