Mumbai, Sep 15 (NationPress) The digital technology industry forum India Mobile Congress (IMC) has announced the launch of the inaugural Startup World Cup India, where innovative startups will have the opportunity to present their ideas for a chance to qualify for the global finale.
This exciting event, scheduled for October 8–11 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi, will allow local entrepreneurs to vie for a spot in the $1 million global finale in San Francisco, USA.
More than 300 startups have submitted their applications, with 15 startups selected to pitch before a distinguished jury made up of venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders, according to an official statement.
“As a cornerstone of the Aspire programme this year, the Startup World Cup aligns with IMC’s broader mission: to establish India as a global frontrunner in deep-tech and digital innovation,” the statement read.
The first-ever Startup World Cup India emphasizes IMC's commitment to positioning Indian startups at the leading edge of the global innovation economy, as stated by Ramakrishna P., CEO of India Mobile Congress.
“Through IMC Aspire, we are providing startups not only a platform to pitch but also a pathway to expand internationally,” he further emphasized.
Launched in 2023, this year’s third edition of IMC Aspire aims to connect over 500 startups with 300 investors, accelerators, and venture funds. The four-day event, IMC 2025, is anticipated to attract more than 150,000 visitors from over 150 countries, feature over 400 exhibitors, and host 800 speakers across 100 conference sessions.
Topics of discussion will include next-generation connectivity, electronics manufacturing, AI-driven solutions, IoT, and more, according to the release.
India has impressively advanced from rank 81 to 39 in the Global Innovation Index in under a decade.
The nation’s economy has also shown robust growth in the first quarter of 2025-26 (Q1 FY26), with a GDP increase of 7.8 percent, compared to 6.5 percent during the same period last year.
