New Delhi, Jan 17 (NationPress) India has emerged as the second-largest global user of Claude.ai, developed by the US-based AI company Anthropic, primarily focusing on software development and technical tasks, according to a recent report.
The findings from Anthropic indicate that five of the top ten applications in India are centered around software development, with 45.2% of these applications related to computer and mathematical tasks.
Moreover, Indian users show a significant overrepresentation in utilizing Claude for CSS, HTML, and UI styling activities, being two times more active than expected, and 1.7 times more in developing and debugging web applications.
Additional notable use cases in India include the creation of AI systems like chatbots and automation workflows, with a 1.5 times representation. Users also leverage Claude for job searching, professional growth, academic STEM projects, and business planning, as outlined in the report.
India’s Anthropic AI Usage Index stands at 0.22, which assesses whether Claude's usage is above or below what would be anticipated based on the working-age population.
An AUI exceeding 1 suggests higher usage intensity of Claude than predicted, while a value below 1 signifies lower usage.
Globally, Claude's application is heavily focused on specific tasks, predominantly in coding, with the US, India, Japan, the UK, and South Korea being the frontrunners in overall use.
The report also notes that certain professionals, particularly radiologists and therapists, might experience an elevation in their skill sets as AI takes over time-consuming tasks, allowing for greater engagement with patients and clients. Conversely, roles like data entry personnel, IT specialists, and travel agents may face simplification or a deskilling effect due to AI's capability to handle substantial portions of their responsibilities.
OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman previously remarked that India represents the second-largest market for the AI firm, with the potential to become the largest.
With a youthful and tech-savvy demographic, India is well-positioned to embrace emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI).
The Indian youth are swiftly adopting advanced technological tools, positioning India as a global hub for innovation and digital skills.
