Bengaluru, Jan 29 (NationPress) A remarkable 78 percent of employees in India are set to prioritize quality family time with spouses, children, and parents over career progression in 2025, according to a report released on Wednesday.

The report by job platform Indeed examines employee ambitions for 2025 across major Asia Pacific regions, including India, Singapore, Australia, and Japan. It highlights a rising emphasis on work-life balance, which encompasses more than just reduced working hours. Employees are seeking to minimize stress and enhance their mental well-being while pursuing well-compensated jobs that provide flexibility for family and personal interests.

Rachael Townsley, Marketing Director for Australia, India, and Singapore at Indeed, stated, “We’re certainly witnessing a transformation in what is significant to Indian workers. Increasingly, individuals are indicating a desire for improved equilibrium between their professional and personal lives. Although higher earnings are a priority, the ideal job for most is not merely about climbing the corporate ladder; it’s about achieving stability, receiving fair compensation, and enjoying benefits that genuinely matter. This underscores the necessity of fostering work environments where individuals are supported in both their professional and personal spheres, which is crucial for their success.”

Moreover, over one in four (27 percent) Indian employees have pinpointed boosting their earning potential as their primary goal for 2025, as indicated by the report. Many workers are grappling with financial challenges as inflation consistently surpasses wage increases, with respondents citing inadequate salaries as their greatest hurdle.

In urban centers like Delhi and Mumbai, the soaring cost of living has compelled a significant segment of the workforce to pursue supplementary income sources. In fact, 41 percent of workers are currently exploring or participating in side gigs to sustain their financial health and counteract rising costs.

Interestingly, despite the aspiration for increased earnings, numerous employees are less eager to chase leadership roles. Instead, the preferred career path for Indian workers in 2025 encompasses security, equitable pay, and valuable benefits.

Alongside these shifting priorities, Indian employees maintain a positive outlook on the job landscape. Over half (55 percent) express confidence in the growth of opportunities in emerging sectors and industries. To prepare, employees are proactively enhancing their skill sets and remaining adaptable to new job prospects or relocations.

The report is based on a survey involving 2,507 respondents from India and 1,211, 1,206, and 1,202 respondents from Singapore, Australia, and Japan, respectively.
