Bengaluru, July 24 (NationPress) - In response to escalating expectations from job seekers, over 50 percent of job listings in India now include salary details, according to a recent report released on Thursday.
The study conducted by job portal Indeed, analyzing job postings on Indeed India from March 2022 to June 2025, highlights that salary transparency is increasingly being integrated into job advertisements.
By early 2025, the proportion of job postings featuring salary information on Indeed India surpassed the 50 percent threshold, a rise from merely 26 percent in March 2022 and 47 percent by the end of 2023. This shift is primarily driven by job seekers who prioritize clarity, fairness, and informed decision-making while exploring career options.
Despite the upward trend in salary transparency, certain sectors and positions still offer limited pay information.
“While upfront salary disclosure is becoming a crucial factor for attracting talent, there is still significant progress needed for salary transparency to become standard practice,” remarked Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales at Indeed India.
“What was once seen as an option is rapidly evolving into a fundamental aspect of modern employer branding. In today's competitive landscape, transparency is the new currency for securing top talent,” Kumar added.
A recent Indeed survey involving 1,157 employers and 2,559 job seekers found that salary transparency is particularly prevalent in remote and hybrid job adverts.
Salary transparency also varies across different job levels. Senior leadership roles exhibit the least transparency, with only 13 percent disclosing salary ranges. In contrast, junior and mid-level positions show the highest levels of transparency, with 32 percent of postings including pay information.
Entry-level positions closely follow, with 28 percent providing salary details, reflecting efforts to attract younger job seekers who increasingly value transparency.
Multiple sectors are now more actively promoting salary transparency, notably IT products and services, banking, financial services, insurance (BFSI), consulting, manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods and retail.
Among these industries, 35 percent of job postings currently feature salary information. Additionally, the report indicates that 62 percent of job seekers prefer listings that provide salary details.
