Key Takeaways

  • Net profit declined by 27%
  • Q3 FY25 profit: Rs 168 crore
  • Revenue dipped to Rs 2,640 crore
  • EBITDA fell by 9% to Rs 1,115 crore
  • Net power generation rose by 10%

Mumbai, Jan 28 (NationPress) JSW Energy has disclosed a 27% year-on-year decline in its consolidated net profit for the third quarter (Q3) of FY25.

The net profit stood at Rs 168 crore during the October-December 2024 timeframe, down from Rs 231 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

This profit drop is attributed to reduced revenue from both thermal and hydropower plants, according to a statement made to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The company experienced a slight revenue decline to Rs 2,640 crore in Q3 FY25, down from Rs 2,661 crore the year before.

While additional renewable capacity and the Utkal Unit-1 boosted sales, diminished short-term revenue from the Ratnagiri and Vijayanagar plants counterbalanced these gains.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) fell by 9% to Rs 1,115 crore compared to Rs 1,229 crore in Q3 FY24.

The EBITDA margin reduced to 42.2%, down from 46.2% in the same quarter last year.

The JSW Energy board has also sanctioned a plan to accumulate long-term funds up to Rs 3,000 crore.

This will be facilitated through the issuance of rated and listed Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) via a private placement, as per the company's regulatory disclosure.

In terms of operational metrics, the company’s net power generation surged by 10% year-on-year to 6.75 billion units (BU) in Q3 FY25.

Renewable energy output rose by 18% to 1.6 BU, while thermal generation increased by 8% to 5.1 BU.

JSW Energy boasts an installed operational capacity of 8,117 MW, with an additional 7,570 MW currently under construction.

JSW Energy’s shares dipped by 5.72% to close at Rs 504 on the BSE.
