New Delhi, Sep 27 (NationPress) Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch India’s completely indigenous 4G stack and over 97,500 Swadeshi BSNL towers.
This initiative is aimed at achieving 100 percent 4G saturation across the nation, significantly enhancing digital connectivity for every citizen, as detailed by the Minister in a post on X.
“In a significant milestone for Bharat’s telecom landscape, while commemorating 25 remarkable years of BSNL, PM Modi will inaugurate the indigenous 4G stack and over 97,500 Swadeshi BSNL towers in states like Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Assam, Gujarat, and Bihar,” Scindia elaborated.
These initiatives signify a major advancement towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, positioning India as a frontrunner in global telecommunications, he emphasized.
According to a post from PMO India, referencing Scindia’s article, BSNL’s 4G stack is a reflection of the swadeshi spirit.
“With over 92,000 sites connecting 22 million Indians, it symbolizes India's transformation from dependency to self-confidence, fostering employment, exports, fiscal recovery, and supporting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” stated PMO.
In addition, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects valued at over Rs 60,000 crore in Jharsuguda, Odisha. These projects span crucial sectors including telecommunications, railways, higher education, healthcare, skill development, and rural housing, with Modi addressing a public gathering on this occasion.
Scindia further noted that the achievement of developing an indigenous 4G stack within just 22 months is a direct outcome of PM Modi’s vision for a self-reliant India.
“This indigenous stack from BSNL indicates that India is not only capable of delivering services but is also progressing rapidly towards becoming a global telecom powerhouse,” the Minister remarked.
“This marks a new chapter for the telecom industry,” Scindia stated previously. “India now stands among the elite nations manufacturing telecom equipment, joining the ranks of Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, and China, making it the fifth country in this domain.”
Moreover, the Prime Minister is expected to unveil a 100 percent 4G network under the Digital India Fund, connecting approximately 29,000 to 30,000 villages through a mission-focused project.
Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal highlighted earlier that India is the world’s largest telecom market, with projections showing the number of 5G users soaring from the current 300–400 million to 770 million by 2028. He attributed the development of the indigenous 4G stack to the policies enacted by Prime Minister Modi.
