New Delhi, April 9 (NationPress) Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda has introduced a patient referral portal designed to facilitate seamless and secure healthcare across the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) network throughout the country.

The Inter-AIIMS Referral portal is poised to transform healthcare management and patient referral systems in India.

As outlined by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, this initiative will first connect AIIMS New Delhi with AIIMS Bilaspur.

“This pilot initiative will act as a vital testing phase to refine operational methods and tackle practical challenges, setting the groundwork for a comprehensive, national system,” the Ministry stated.

The portal will also introduce technological advancements within the AIIMS framework.

These state-of-the-art technologies encompass facial recognition systems and automated workflows, ensuring smooth, secure, and transparent referral procedures, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

“By leveraging technology, we can revolutionize the healthcare sector and improve the lives of millions,” Nadda remarked.

He underscored the importance of all AIIMS collaborating as a community to share best practices and learn from one another.

The highest quality standards in processes and outcomes should be guaranteed through suitable accreditation/certification, and Information Technology should be utilized effectively for better governance and patient convenience,” the Health Minister stated.

The portal is set to significantly cut down waiting times, reduce manual errors, and foster a more patient-centric healthcare experience.

Nadda also highlighted that while maintaining consistency in principles, operational flexibility is crucial to maximize each institute's potential.

He launched the portal during the eighth Central Institute Body meeting of AIIMS, where numerous agenda items related to developing AIIMS as Institutes of Excellence in education, clinical care, and research were meticulously discussed.

“Of the 22 AIIMS approved, 18 are operational, providing advanced, affordable tertiary care health services to individuals in underserved and remote regions of the country,” Nadda mentioned.
