Samsung's Quick Share Now Integrates with Apple's AirDrop
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Seoul, March 23 (NationPress) On Monday, Samsung Electronics announced a significant update, enabling compatibility between its Android file-sharing system, Quick Share, and Apple's AirDrop. This development allows users of the Galaxy S26 smartphone to effortlessly exchange photos with iPhone users. According to Yonhap news agency, the update is available to Galaxy S26 series owners starting today.
While both Quick Share and AirDrop utilize Bluetooth technology to detect nearby devices for sharing photos, videos, contact information, and files, they previously lacked interoperability.
The company stated that AirDrop support will begin with the Galaxy S26 series, with plans to extend this feature to more devices in the future.
This service will also roll out in other key markets, including the United States and Europe, beginning Wednesday.
A Samsung official remarked, "We have enhanced user convenience by enabling Galaxy users to communicate seamlessly with individuals using different operating systems."
In addition, Samsung introduced a new Car-to-Home service in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group. This innovative service allows drivers to control their home appliances from their vehicles using Samsung's SmartThings platform.
The technology enables drivers to operate Samsung home devices such as air conditioners, air purifiers, and robot vacuum cleaners directly from their cars. For instance, users can activate a "home mode" to turn on air conditioning and lights as they near their homes.
Conversely, by activating the "away mode," the platform ensures that unused appliances are turned off while operating a robot vacuum cleaner.
This service is compatible with Hyundai and Kia vehicles manufactured after November 2022 that support connected car navigation cockpit infotainment systems. Samsung and the automakers plan to broaden compatibility to additional models through future software updates.
